YK Farmers Market Harvesters Table
Do you have extra vegetables, berries or wild harvest? You can donate your harvest, sell it in-person at the Harvesters Table, or we can sell it on your behalf. There is even an option for harvesting your garden while you’re on vacation!
Ways to Participate
Donate your extra harvest (vegetables, berries or wild harvest):
a. Direct Donation: Rinse your harvest with City water and drop off at the Harvesters Table at the Farmers Market between 4:00 and 5:00 or contact us so we can pick it up. We will keep the proceeds of the sales;
b. Donation On Vacation – we will tend your garden, harvest, pre-wash, package, price and sell. Have a worry-free holiday! We will keep the proceeds of the sales; and
c. Egg Donation: You can donate your chicken eggs, and we will donate them back! As the eggs are ungraded/uninspected, we cannot sell them BUT they will go to a good home.
We sell for you: we will keep 25% of the sales and you get 75%. Please call us prior to the Market for approval, packaging and pricing ideas. Rinse your harvest with City water and drop off at the Harvesters Table at the Farmers Market between 4:00 and 5:00.
We do all the work: we harvest, pre-wash, package price and sell your harvest for you. We return 50% of your sales to you – please call prior to market for pick-up info, approval, packaging and pricing ideas.
Experience being a vendor: Sell your own transplants, harvest and/or seeds for up to three (3) weeks at a cost of 25% of your sales per market. This is a great way to learn how to market yourself and your products. We will provide you with insurance, a table and a business licence. All you need to do is pay your $20 YKFM membership and show up! If you use the Harvesters Table service for more than 3 weeks, the percentage of what we keep from your sales goes up by 5% per week, to a maximum of 50% (30% at 4 weeks, 35% at 5 weeks, etc).
Why does the Farmers Market keep a percentage of sales?
The Farmers Market retains a portion of sales for two reasons. First, if offsets the costs of operating the Harvesters Table – insurance, business licenses, outreach and more. Second, the revenue helps to fund important initiatives hosted by the Farmers Market. We plan to pursue initiatives related to education, health, community outreach, food security and economic development. The success of the Harvesters Table will allow the Farmers Market to continue offering great community programs.
